Behind so many young carers is a story that deserves to be heard. Young carers are children and young people who often take on responsibilities that many of us may never have experienced at their age. They can provide emotional support, help around the home, care for a family member and manage responsibilities alongside school, friendships and growing up. Their dedication, compassion and resilience are truly remarkable, yet their caring role can sometimes go unnoticed. This year, we held the Ascot Ladies Day, a very special event dedicated to raising awareness of young carers and celebrating the incredible difference they make every day.

A Fabulous Day at Grains Bar Hotel

Organised by the wonderful Beverley Heap, the event was a fantastic celebration filled with glamour, laughter, friendship and plenty of entertainment, all while raising awareness of young carers and the incredible work they do.

The Positive Steps team were delighted to attend, with our Young Carers Lead representing the service and helping to keep young carers at the heart of the day. And what an afternoon it was!

Guests embraced the Ascot theme with some truly fabulous outfits and spectacular hats. There was even a Best Dressed competition, showcasing the creativity and glamour of everyone who came along. And then came a very special guest – Elvis! 🎤The Elvis performer brought plenty of energy to the afternoon, adding even more fun and entertainment to an already memorable occasion. There was laughter, music and a wonderful atmosphere throughout the day.

More Than Just a Ladies Day

Although the afternoon was filled with fun, fashion and celebration, its purpose was much deeper.Every conversation about young carers helps to increase understanding of the challenges they face. Every person who learns about their experiences has the opportunity to make a difference, and every bit of support helps us work towards a future where no young carer feels invisible or alone.

The day was a wonderful reminder that supporting young carers is something we can all play a part in.Together, we not only raised awareness of young carers and the incredible contribution they make, but we also raised a fantastic £6,000 to support young carers. This incredible amount will help us continue our work supporting young carers and creating opportunities that can make a real difference to their lives.

£6,000 is more than a fundraising total, it represents support, opportunities and a brighter future for young carers.

Thank You 💜

A huge thank you to Beverley Heap for organising such a fantastic event at Grains Bar Hotel, and to everyone who attended, supported and helped make the day such a success. From the fabulous outfits and Best Dressed competition to the brilliant Elvis entertainment, it was certainly a day to remember. Most importantly, it was a day that helped shine a light on young carers, young people whose kindness, strength and dedication deserve to be recognised every single day.

Together, we can continue to raise awareness, celebrate young carers and make sure their voices are heard.
